too right… one of the things i really miss about buying music.. all those train journeys home from the record shops reading every bit of small print on the back of the records

As a songwriter and performer, unsigned, I have to say that I’m ALL for this campaign. The music industry has certainly taken a turn for the worst when all credits are dismissed in a miserly method of not allowing wider bandwidth downloads.

it’s great to see the goverment funding research and institutions like cranfield getting the opportunity to apply some academic rigour to this business issue which will need a multidisciplinary approach to resolve – ‘we have the technology’ but it will probably take legislation to establish standards that have impact on social behaviour
The UK Technology Strategy Board recently announced a competition for collaborative research funding “Metadata: increasing the value of digital content”, which aims to solve some of the problems highlighted in the Credit where Credit is Due debate. http://bit.ly/9KiZoZ
This is the opportunity to engage in some applied research that will have a direct impact upon the future of production credit metadata.
